Trafic non start. Immobiliser issue

Need some help here as I'm getting to the end of my tether. Next doors Trafic won't start and I agreed to have a look. Immobiliser light stays lit constantly, STOP light stays on, and no glow plug light. I've scanned it with Delphi, and it says 040 CAN-No comms with ECM. Imobiliser recognises the key. It spins over on the starter perfectly, but no fire. I've read and seen many faults with the fusebox- have stripped the loom back and checked in there for broken wires, checked the blue plug- cleaned it but still suspicious of it so have soldered all the wires together doing away with the plug but still no luck. I'm convinced it will be a corroded or broken wire somewhere, but everything I check seems all good. Can't go to the extent of removing the engine loom and dash where the van is but don't want to be beat- just wondered if there are any other common issues that cause this fault? Relays seem to be doing what they should, all other electrics work perfectly- just wont disengage the immobiliser.
