Junior doctors new contracts

The Royal College of Nursing has weighed in on Prime Minister David Cameron's health care proposals for the junior doctors in the National Health Service.

The Allergists voted to scratch it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.

The Gastroenterologists had a sort of a gut feeling about it, but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.

The Obstetricians felt they were all labouring under a misconception.

Ophthalmologists considered the idea short-sighted.

Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!" while the Pediatricians said, "Oh, Grow up."

The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the Radiologists could see right through it.

The Surgeons were fed up with the cuts and decided to wash their hands of the whole thing.

The Ear Nose and Throat specialists didn't swallow it, and just wouldn't hear of it.

The Pharmacists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the
Plastic Surgeons said, "This puts a whole new face on the matter...."

The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were ****ed off at the whole idea.

The Anaesthetists thought the whole idea was a gas, but the
Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.

In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the arseholes in Whitehall.

First thing you need to remember is that the lease car will have warranty on it on top of servicing so wouldnt worry to much about repairs ...Clio and Juke use same Renault engine so power wise is similar but clio slightly lighter car and gets great reviews

Hi

the two discs have different diameters, when I did mine - I took a wheel off and measured the disc and photographed the pads went to local ECP who from this info & photo had me sorted in minuets.
Tip - Be careful pushing the calliper piston in - the ABS system doesn't like it, best open the bleed valve instead.

Clio 1.2 - Clock, radio and fan stay on with ignition off

Hi

I have a 2006 Clio which has recently developed a weird fault. When I turn off the ignition everything is fine for a couple of seconds and then the heater fan, clock light and radio all come back on (if turned on before turning the ignition off). Even if I turn the radio and heater fan off the car battery will be flat within a few hours.

I've looked through the forum and seen a few similar faults but not one where all the accessories come on.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

LightbulbSmoky Diesel - New Battery

Hi All,
First post here but thought I'd share a finding I stumbled upon recently. Have had our 2010 1.5dCi for nearly 3 years now and it has always been really smoky when you put your foot down. We had it serviced and nothing improved, were resigned to the fact that at only 65k miles it was just a smoky mota.
Recently it started struggling when turning over and the dash recommended a new battery was needed. I obliged (pig of a job) and the interesting thing, to me at least, it that since the new battery went in it's not smoky at all!
Thought I'd share as a new battery is not that expensive and I'm hoping it may now even improve the fuel economy! Any thoughts?
Regards,
Dave

I might be saying too much but...

I might be saying too much but...

Hi,

I can't keep it in any longer - I'm too excited for you. So I've decided I'm going to let you in now on something pretty cool that's happening in the next few days.

It's still very hush-hush so I can't say too much at this stage or I'll get in trouble but I wanted you to know that the next Chris Knott prize draw is soon to be launched and it promises to be the best one yet!

What I can tell you is that it will benefit anyone asking us to quote, between 1 March and 31 May, for a car we don't yet insure. If that's you you'll automatically be entered for the draw and this time there's more than one awesome prize.

Look, I've got to shut up now or I'll say too much but make sure you ask us for a quote under our special club scheme during March, April or May if you're interested in finding a better quote for your car insurance and you'll gain entry to the draw.

QUOTELINE: 0800 917 2274 (free for mobiles too) - please mention this forum.

When I can say more, I'll fill you in on the prize details.

best,
Nick

PS. We can quote 30 days ahead so you may be able to benefit from the draw even if you're not due until the end of June (just get your quote before 31 May).

*******************
In the meantime, here's some recent feedback about the scheme. We love hearing from you. If you've had a good experience we can pass it on to the team member/members involved to encourage them.

"We have 2 cars insured with you and you've been great. We've just ordered 2 new ones for delivery in March so we'll be calling you again soon to see what you can do. Thanks again." scrounger, BabyBMW

"They are brilliant. I know the company well and have used them for many years. Both my Golf V5 and Volvo are insured with them. I know Nick's word is good. Known him for many years and a true professional as his company. Give them a try. Loyalty bonuses help on renewal too." Matt, UK-MkIVs

"Rang for a quote yesterday, spoke with Rebecca who was very friendly and very helpful, K&N induction kit declared and accepted on policy with a very good price. Took out policy and printed cover note and documents an hour later. Excellent service." sliderboy, CivInfo

"£62 cheaper than my current insurer. Not bad, going to ring around and see what others offer, think it may be hard to beat though!" rob275, GT86 & BRZ Drivers Club

"Just got yourselves another new customer!!! Came in £50 cheaper than Axa who were the cheapest of all others!" slackworth, Audi-Sport net

I might be saying too much but...

Gearbox Gaiter

Recently my Espace MkIII Diesel 52 plate snapped a gearbox control cable (5 speed box) - I've managed to source a replacement, but whilst rolling around under the car extracting the old broken control cable I noticed that the rubber gaiter on the gearbox end of the driveshaft on the passenger (lefthand side when sat in the car) is split.

Now, aside from the potentially obvious MOT failure that this will cause, would there have been any other issues caused by this split? I've seen somewhere that this gaiter also provides the gearbox oil seal, and if split then the gearbox would run dry! Is this the case?

Also how hard a job is it to replace this gaiter - I'm fairly practical (you've got to be when you've got an ancient landrover, and I've kept 3 Espaces on the road over the last few years, and they've never gone to a garage as I've don the work myself)... Is it a 'simple' job of removing the brakes, splitting the outer hub from the suspension arm (I've had these apart in the past when I changed the lower wishbone and I know they are *tight*!!), then undoing to 3 bolts that hold the inner gaiter to the gearbox ... slide the entire driveshaft out from the car, then replace the gaiter (after cleaning) and then re-assemble in reverse order - or are there things I need to watch out for / not do etc?

The 5 speed gearbox for the Diesel variant of Espace seems to have no documentation that I can find on the internet ... so any guidance would be really appreciated ... I don't really want to take it to a garage for something that could be a fairly simple job at home - especially as the car is up on blocks at the moment awaiting the new gearbox control cable! Oh and it's currently got no MOT to get to a garage so that sort of rules that option out...

Anyway, cut to the point - any clues / instructions / guidance / dos/don'ts on replacing the inner gaiter on the left hand side of the car on a 5 speed Mk III Diesel Espace would be massively appreciated

leaking manual transmission - '02 Clio B 1.4 16V

Hello,
My transmission is leaking quite badly from the gear selector seal (almost 100% sure).

Are there any known fixes for that?
Can I use some kind of sealer?

Thank you very much!

Scenic 1.5 dci 05 Power Steering

Hi,

Is there a way I can find out which model numbers of power steering assembly will work on my Scenic? I'm wondering because there are so many different model numbers but they all look the same and seem to come from the same model Scenic as mine but the numbers are different.

Thanks.

Steve.

1.9 Extra/Express Injector Pump Set-up

Hi,

I have just finished fitting a 1.9 F8Q engine in my 1990 1.6 F8M camper. I bought an N reg 95/96 van so I would have all the parts necessary. The swap went quite well except the radiator fixing panel is different, so the 1.9 radiator is a bit of a tight fit. I have used the 1.9 sub-frame and had to weld on the inner-wing extension as the engine mounts are very different.

I noticed the timing belt had been changed and the timing marks didn't line up so I fitted a new belt while the engine was on the floor. I believe the head gasket had been done before I bought it and it looked like the injector pump had been moved. When I started the engine it smoked worse than the Flying Scotsman.

The injector pump is a Bosch 3 bolt pulley R 588. Can anyone tell me how to adjust the injector timing using a DTI? I did find a thread on this forum on how to do it on a different Bosch pump but all of the photos are missing and the description does make much sense to me without them.

Regards, Terry

Thumbs upCar seat covers

Hello. I recently contacted Renault to ask if they stock car seat covers for my Megane III and to my surprise they said no, covers were never made for this car model.

I purchased some one size fits all covers from Halfords but they didn't fit! If anyone uses covers, please can you tell me where you got them and why you got them (i.e. dog, child, or general seat protection)

I wish to thank you in advance for your help.

Megane Estate Acceleration Problem

Hi

I have a Meagne II Estate 1.9dci with 102,000 on the clock.

The car acceleration seems to be playing up sometimes when getting up to speed the car has loss power for second like engine rocks forward and back or the power will just stop and pressing the Acceleration does not do anything then it come back by its self for like 20 seconds.

This morning the wife phoned me saying the car has started accelerating by its self.

This down to faulting electronic acceleration switch ?

There is not fault codes showing on the dash

Re: Scenic Engine problem - possibly ECU

I'd be more suspicious of poor connections then the ECU .

There are three fuses in the red box on the battery +ve post.... these can cause issues if corroded.
Water ingress is always a favourite on these.... any sign in the underbonnet fuse box or inside cabin, damp carpets or up behind dash ?
And Earth issues... poor connections or leads to bodyshell or engine block.

Would be my starting points.

2011 clio 1.5 dci, 106 - buying advice

Hi, firstly apologises if this is the wrong place for this post.

I have had a clio in the past, although it was a 1.6 and the mk2 shape. I do 70 miles a day and a mk5 gti is no longer practical.

The car im looking at is well speced, its the initiale trim but its up for £6.5k with 40k on the clock and 2 previous owners. Mileage is low for a 5 year old diesel buts it a main dealer. Is there anything In particular I should look out for? Is the 106 bhp engine a good one compared to the lower bhp dcis? Do you think the price is right for a main dealer? Any alternative suggestions for cars would be great as I dont want to spend more than 6k, though under this would be better. Just need a diesel that will give 60mpg, is reliable and preferably from a main dealer with a good warranty.

What year is your car.

What else did clip show,,is there a diagnostic report associated with the car,,
(Any other faults in any other ecu 's or just your injection ECU .)..

If there is a diagnostic report, then fill it in, it will take you to another part of clip.

Clip has a lot of info built in, but you have to follow every screen through,
AS long as tinternet is off, go through every section that comes up. But you must fill everything in, otherwise clip wont help you, it will just confuse you

Renault kangoo 2004 1,9dci 4x4 84ps

Hi, i bought my secong Kangoo a little while ago, and this one is 2 years newer than my last one. I have some problem with the glowlight, and throttle function. I noticed that when the light comes on, the car is running very poorly, and after loading the faultcode, it says P0225. This is related to the throttle potensiometer as far as i have figured out? And after taking a look at the pedal, it was loose, so thightened it, but didnt get better. The fault comes ang goes, and it is starting to irritate me ALOT! :P

On the side of the unit is this number : 8200699691 And when trying to find a replasement part online, it says that it is to a Clio? And no mentioning Kangoo anywhere :-( Have the previous owner replaced it with a wrong part, or is this the correct one? 2011 clio, lights won't turn off and wipers won't work

Hi all, having problems with the gf clio.... It has automatic lights and wipers. Today, the lights decided to come on mid day, and wouldn't go off. Also wipers have stopped working, auto and manual. She has had similar problems before and the mechanic soldered some wires behind/in the steering column. Any more info needed please ask. Thanks

scenic II 1.5 DCI 80 2004

Boxing day went through standing water fusebox got wet replaced it started and drove fine for a bout a week then Alternator packed up again replaced it and it started and drove fine this time for only 3 days themn on way to get kids electronic fault flashed up. Turned it off when picking them up and nothing got them to push and it started on way home decided to see if problem was fixed so pressed start button to turn it off and it wouldnt even bump that time as though ignition wasnt on

Petrol in a diesel

Hi
As the title says, I've put Petrol in my diesel (doh!)
Had about £15 of diesel already and planning to drive from Stoke to Newcastle Upon Tyne on Tuesday
After a nightmare of a day at work I went to fill up for this trip
Started to fuel and after putting £8 in I noticed It was petrol
Stopped and went into the shop, man gave me a Fuel doctor number to ring.
After 10 minutes of ringing and no answer I hung up
Went back into the shop and the guy says just fill up with diesel and it should be OK
I put £40 in, bare in mind already had £15 in it so about 15% petrol to diesel, drove off and it was fine.
Still planning the journey in Tuesday
Does anyone know if this will be ok or has any advise and on what to do? FYI I do have a petrol car as well so that's why I just a had a memory lapse ( just trying to make myself look less thick)
Regards
Steve

Some of these systems require USB specs to match as well..USB 3.0 not 2.0 or vice versa... just a thought.

cant get rear windows down no noise

hello and good afternoon to all you Renault owners... I have just bought a second megane 2 litre convertible the first being written off by insurance after having the back end driving into by a 85 year old man anyway I drgress. I have a problem with the two rear windows on the megane they do not make any noise or move at all with any of the switches the roof parks it self into the boot with the front windows working with the roof switch and they come back up with the centre switch also they work fine with the door switches. the rear ones will not even come to life at all.. my question is... is there a separate fuse for the two rear windows or am I going to have to strip the back out of this car and change the bits and bobs. if this is the case what is the difference between the modulater and the regulater or are they the same.. thank you in advance for reading this all the best ian

Hi,

Having owned my trafic for about a month now im getting more frustrated that my model and year seems neglected on lists of parts.

1.9dci parts are commonly listed for 01 to 06 but never 06 onwards(facelift). Alot is the same but as ive recently found the fuel filter changed so i have the wrong one.

I dashed to halfords and again they dont even list an 06 onwards :/

What gives?
Thanks

Have you tried eurocarparts ?

I seem to remember Phil48 having similar issues when he had a Clio...can't remember any easy solution though, sorry but have PM'd him in hope.
Otherwise sounds like hammer and chisel job... probably a screwdriver rather then a chisel but break it up and fish the bits out.

Re: Laguna III 2010 Lighting

Quote:

I have just purchased the above car and am very happy with it generally. I have a couple of questions, firstly, I have a setting in the menu that says Auto dipped beam, I gather from other members that it actually mean DRLs. If that is the case where are they fitted, (it does have bi-xenon's by the way). They certainly don't come on. The other question is that it has cornering lights, where are they. I thought it was in the redundant main beam lamp as there are filament bulbs fitted. I had asked a main dealer about this but they don't seem to have a clue, they give me the impression that as the Laguna is not produced now they suddenly have no knowledge about them! I did use a clip analyser and it said there was a DLR fault, but not what is was.

Can anyone help?

Dont know if its a UK spec car but to the best of my knowledge they did not come with DLR's fitted so that confuses me ...I dont have the cornering lights so dont know answer there

Laguna 111 O/S dip beam not working.

Hi, the O/S dip beam on my 2010 sport tourer has stopped working. Very easy to get at the bulb which I changed but it still doesn't work. I don't suppose the headlights have separate fuses or is this shivering feeling I have because I will have to take it to a dealer? Any help very much appreciated. They are standard bulbs. Dies the Renault have a lighting ECU which has to be reset? While I am here why doesn't my Laguna detect when a bulb doesn't work? Even my 04 plateMG ZT does that.

2003 clio mk2 HELP !!

Hi all. 2 days ago i fitted a different stereo into my clio. All was working fine unitl I pushed the stereo into place and accidentally caught wiring for the door locks which appears to have caused a short circuit which has left me with no interior or exterior lights, heater fan, and starter motor. Have checked immobiliser light and all seems ok there, have checked all fuses and they appear ok, wondering if it is a relay problem however how can i check this ? Can anyone tell me what the heck I may have done please

QuestionBrurple

My partner's Modus (54 plate) was brown when I bought it. And it still is...until I step to the left, then it is definitely purple. Except that bit over there which is blue, until I look closer and it's brown again. We've not seen another the same colour(s).

What witchcraft (or paint colour) is this? Haven't been able to find a brochure from the period, but would love to know if this type of paint has a name.
