Laguna II 1.8 16v rev limiter

Hello all

I've recently bought the car. Took it for a run out today and it would not rev past 5700/5800 rpm? Engine was warm and roads were great. Why would it not rev to 6500 ish which is where the redline is? The car only has 28k on the clock, I've just changed the oil and filter.

Also whilst I'm here would like to say the car doesn't half knock and rattle!!! I've removed the heat shield from the exhaust, replaced the front drop links but it still knocks. Not an engine knocking but other? Are there any areas to check, is there a common occurrence people know about to look for? I know its vague sorry.
