But if stuck with one type, straight.
Be wary of ratchet spanner sets.
Many that I looked at recently didn't have a 12mm
Many of the cheap sets are two steel plates riveted together, don't half hurt when you put pressure on them.
Halfords had a set of straight ratchet/open enders on offer before Christmas (my pressie ) and they are lovely. Lifetime guarantee as well.
But not cheap if paying full price.
Personally, having worked on motors for best part of fifty years without owning one ratchet spanner, I'd be investing in a decent 3/8 socket set for the tight places and a decent set of combination spanners, rings and open enders. Straight as generally more useful and can always buy the odd "offset" if needed.
1/4 socket set also useful but plenty cheap ones around that do a job.
