59 Plate Grand Scenic loss of power, engine failure hazzard warni and glow plug issue

Hi,

Thank you for reading my post. I own a Renault Grand Scenic 1.6 59 plate. Bare with me here as there is quite a bit to list...... 2 weeks ago I was driving back from London (to Glasgow) and the car wasn't responding as it should/ had been. It felt like the power was dropping out (similar to the feeling of aquaplaning). Midway on our journey we got to the bottom of a steep hill at the start of the A66 and it felt like it was kangarooing and the Engine Failure Hazard warning light flagged up stating to STOP. Then a yellow warning of check ESP.

We stopped by the side of the road where I googled the issue and it was one of 3 issues - overheating - car was only registering half way on the thermostat , so couldn't be that. Another option was fuel injection or the glow plugs were the other option.

Since we had only paid for the car to have a full service prior to making our journey to London and the fact that we were charged for replacement glow plugs we ruled that out too.

I put it into a local independent garage (who had also did the full service) last Monday and told them the issue. The charged me to reprogram the diesel pump having driven it on and off on short no more than 30 mile an hour journeys no issue flagged up so assumed it was fixed.

Then I went to drive to Cheshire on Friday and got as far as 12 junctions away at the bottom of a large hill and the same thing started again. Kangarooing, loss of power, unable to get up the hill and over 40 mile per hour with hgvs closing in on my butt. I pulled onto the hard shoulder as I got the same STOP! Engine Failure Hazzard sign again.

This time we called out the AA and they did a diagnostic test on the car and it came up with a glow plug error. Having had these replaced in the service I questioned the AA man. He said that is what the computer is saying, however, there is an underlying issue as glow plugs wouldn't cause this issue. He said it was either the ECR valve (perhaps being clogged) or the fuel pump or the ecu (computer brain I believe)?

I took it back to the garage again yesterday to be told that they replaced 2 of the 4 glow plugs and it hasn't made a blind bit of difference. I said why 2 of them and they said because they were blown or "gubbed", I said but you charged me not a month ago to replace these? I didn't get a response to this.

Now this morning they are telling me that is the pressure control valve. He said that he noticed lots of air bubbles in the pipe when the vehicle was revved. So the long and short is he is replacing the pressure control valve at the cost of £285.60.

I really have some doubts about their capabilities now as not 6 months ago my front window wipers completely stopped working and he charged me £110 even though he could not find an issue - he said the motors were fine. However, the motors were not fine and I ended up having to pay £900 to another garage to replace both motors on the from window wipers. If one goes it stops the other.

Also I am wary of the fact that air might have gotten into the engine system as a result of their mistake of not tightening it properly which has as a result broken the pressure control valve.

Can anyone shed more light on this for me or has anyone had a similar issue? I really have spent out a fortune in the last 3 years for this car - from electrical issues cost £500, to stuck on hand brakes - on 3 occasions £1000, to back break disks and pads £550 within 3 months of buying the thing, to front window wiper motors costing near enough £1000 to suss out and fix - took 3 months to suss, back break pads again £110 last week, front coil £195 and there have been other things constantly not to mention the £285 this week. I have had this car in the garage more than any other car I have ever had combined. It seems to be costing me in excess of £1000 per year just to fix more issues. I will never buy a Renault again. Enough already.
