About 2 weeks ago my steering suddenly became very stiff and heavy. At first thought I had flat tyre. Fluid level was correct.
It freed up soon after and everything seemed fine. Then it did it again a few days later. Again it cleared but then it came back and this time it didn't go away.
Local garage investigated and found this item to be the fault. It's a universal joint at the bottom of the steering column. Expensive to buy from Renault, about £130. But garage fitted a standard universal joint and so far all is well.
It would be an idea to give this item a spray with wd40 or suchlike now and again to stop it seizing up
