Scenic 2010 door locking/unlocking assistance

Hi all,

I've not had a car with keyless opening/closing before so I don't know if I just need educating or not.

Please read below - I'd be interested to know if I'm being thick or if there is a problem.

I have just bought a 2010 Scenic Privilege Tom Tom 1.5dci. The problem is the doors don't open as I'd expect (not the same as my old 53 plate scenic (key fob 'button only' entry).

My Expectation:
With Doors locked - with 1 press of the open button - driver’s door open. 2 presses - all doors open

With Doors open - with 1 press of the lock button - all doors lock. 2 presses - all doors deadlocked.

Summary of new car:

I believe this new car has three ways of opening/locking the doors (judging by the manual):

1/ Buttons on the fob - doors locked:
The central locking refuses to open the driver’s door (all other doors open no problem).
Pressing the key fobs 'open' button once - all passenger doors open, driver’s door remains locked. Press the same button again (double tap in quick succession) still does not open the driver’s door. It may take several button presses and several pulls of the handle to open the door, and then it may only open to the door 'catch' - ajar but still locked.

Doors open:
Pressing the fob's 'lock' button once - expect all doors to lock - actually locks all doors except the driver’s door. Deadlocking (pressing twice in quick succession) does lock the driver’s door.

2/ Fob proximity:
Proximity opening/locking does not occur all the time. By that I mean I can walk to, or away from, the car without anything happening at all. When it does:
Walking away from the car locks all doors, apart from the driver’s door.
Walking to the car unlocks all bar the driver’s door.

3/ Car door handle button:
The pressing of the handle button sets the repeaters off twice, an indication it is locking the doors - they flash twice whether the doors are open or locked. When the doors are unlocked, pressing this button does not lock the driver’s door. Pressing button twice will flash the indicators 5 times, deadlocking and will lock the driver’s door

Is the key fob coded incorrectly or do I have an issue with the driver’s door electrics?
I put a battery in the other fob and this does the same as above.

Your knowledge/input would be appreciated in this matter - I have read the manual and followed the instructions in this guide, but the driver’s door is not operating as intended.

Many thanks,
Scott

  1. I have the same problem, I think something has seized or broken in the lock mechanism. I've had a look and can disconnect all but the external door handle. I will try again. Have you resolved the problem on your car yet?
