Nail-biting journeys

Nail-biting journeys

3 months ago my youngest daughter set off for Uni, 250 miles away in her fully packed Clio which had just had a full service (by me) including a new cambelt/tensioner/water pump.
2 hours later, I get an anguished phone call - broken down in fast lane of M5, on verge between fast lane and barrier, 120 miles away.
Made sure she was safe then she called GEM recovery, after two hours she was on her way back, cost £340, thankfully refunded quickly.
Cause? Broken cambelt - tensioner was seized solid. Needed replacement head, gasket set, bolts, belt etc. Suppliers of 1st kit offered new tensioner! Legal proceedings ongoing, not hopeful though.
Other daughter then had to take her next day, 500 miles, no worries in an elderly Civic.
Today, off went other daughter in rebuilt Clio to bring her back; I've had text to say she's arrived OK.
All I need now is some false nails and another box of tissues to mop my brow with.
Cheers,
Pete
