Intersting Tool
Saw this on TV. Looks like a handy item for those of you that grill regularly.

We don't grill enough to warrant one but I know some folks do and would probably put to good use.

Tell me about my 79 john Deere 314 please!!
Howdy from east central indiana
Hey guys I've got a 79 john deere 314 handed down to me from my uncle so you can imagine how much I love her but a few months ago my hydraulic return lines rotted away so she was parked for about 2 months I just didnt have the time to be out messing with it so a few weeks ago I got some time and went and replaced those two lines charged the battery, fresh gas oil change the whole 9 yards and she will crank and crank but wont fire I've tried spark plug checked points starter is good coil is good I got into the head and noticed that my intake and exhaust valves were not looking so good so I'm planning to lap them tomorrow morning I am just curious to hear what some of you guys think about what could be going on I've literally never had any problems getting her to run like a champ. I'm 3rd owner my uncle got it from the man who bought it new and he had john deere service it every year now that was about 10 years ago when unc got the tractor so it's been thru routine maintenance stuff since then... oh I've also checked all my safety switches and everything seems to be fine.
I've got the plow and mower deck for it too and the wheels chains and weights it's a **** good tractor for whatever you might need it for.
I'll take all the advice and input as I can get about any aspect of the tractor
I'll try to figure out how to post some pics shes my pride and joy and I'm planning on doing a full restoration so literally anything you guys have to say about the 314 is appreciated in my book.
Thanks all, Luke

Got me 414-8 Going to restore it.
I seen this add on Crags list guy had this 414-8 plus another 8HP wheel horse, Has deck--blade. And also a Mighty-Mac chipper/Blower. The 414-8 has 436 hours and he,s original owner. And get this- FREE! Yep gave them to me. They all run had to clean fuel tank and carb out, That kohler 14 is clean inside for sure, even had battery and a new steering wheel for it. Be nice addition to my collection.
So far took all apart and am putting new bearings in the idler pulleys and greasing the rest of them with needle. I flushed out the trans two times to clean, Rubber boot was all cracked let water in I think. Checked charging system ok. His Dad died and he used it till he parked it quit running, They messed with fuel pump & system but had no fuel filter so alot crud got in everywhere. The little screen in tank was broke off?? so let crud in I guess. At first I could not get fuel to carb after cleaning all, I put fuel pump on the way they had it and found it was up-side down, lol!! It will fit that way too but leak little oil.

Just joined. Live in Houston but own 300 acres of wooded hollers in Ozark County Missouri. Wife and I will be moving there once we retire.
Researching tractors and wanted to join here to read up and get educated.
Currently have about 5 miles of trails that need scraping/ditch work and also clearing a home site and making several more miles of trails. Will be hauling a bit of rock and firewood from all over the property. Need something more suited to the work than my Land Cruiser!
