Need help - snowblower auger "odd bearing" ID - (pics) - Thanks
Trying to find replacement bearings for my 1978 snowblower Auger cross shaft.
My Bearing Guy came up blank, after 30 yrs of matching everything I put on the counter in front of him. Even went thru old catalogues to no avail.......
The catch is, when you look at the pics, the bearing cage is also the outer race. The two clamshell halves are riveted together in 3 spots

outerside.................................................. ..........innerside

As disassembled,

There is no name brand or ID number at all to go by.
The bearing has a 1" bore,
is 3" overall across,
is 1 3/16" thick,
has 2 x 5/16" allen head lock screws,
has 3 x 5/16" mounting holes drilled at 1.25" radius from center
The snowblower is model number 09JC9895, built in 1978, I believe, for Jacobsen and branded as Ford LGT series. It is a two stage.
Haven't tried the dealer yet, just the bearing specialists, and have no parts book to ID.
Hoping someone has come across these before, Thanks Gents, any help is appreciated.:thanku:

GX345 Hitch and rear attachments questions
The hitch on my GX345 is just the hole in the plate, and although this works fine for pulling a little yard trailer around, I'm thinking I need something with more utility. I've been doing some searching, and I've read a bunch of different things and gotten myself confused with all the different choices.
So I'm wondering what some you with similar tractors have done. I can see it being useful to be move a small trailer (2 inch ball) with the GT instead of using a truck (or lugging it around by hand as I usually end up doing). I'd also like to have an easier way to attach and detach the trailer and other pull-behind items; right now those items have pins and then a cotter key, which can be annoying to deal with. I'd also like to have some more points to connect to, for example I was pulling some small stumps out and didn't have any great places to put the hooks from the tow strap.
But then I start looking at the idea of a sleeve hitch, as it could be nice to use a rear blade. But it looks like the sleeve hitch for this unit is manual...I've never used a sleeve hitch, but does the manual unit have some sort of lock to keep things at the height you want, or is it just a 2 position setup? I also saw a listing for a John Deere part M117436
I saw other people mentioning that a sleeve hitch for an older 300 series would fit, and would use the hydro deck lift to raise and lower (I assume this is similar to how the rear tiller worked?) but that requires removing the deck it sounds like? Also I'm guessing it would be pretty difficult to find one of those.
At this point, I'm considering making a bracket to mount a normal 2" receiver tube on the rear, then I can make a little 'adapter' to slide in there for the yard trailer, use a regular auto hitch with a ball to move the trailer, use a D-ring or hook adapter for rope/straps. I suppose, if I were to get really fancy, I could probably come up with a way to make a sleeve hitch that would go into a 2" receiver (maybe even with a bracket so I could mount an electric actuator to make it a power hitch). Any thoughts?

Greetings!
My name is Thomas and I am a relatively new homeowner with a relatively large yard. I bought the John Deere STX38 from the previous owner of the house, and although it has been mighty useful, it's already had some serious problems. I am looking for advice on how to best fix the current issues, as well as maintenance and general lawn care best practices.

LX172 Powertrain clutch linkage
Took the mower for it's first spin since reworking (New Belt, parking brake unstuck, electrical gremlin) it. Been parked outside for two years. Runs good but when placed in gear it takes off and pushing clutch and brake in had little effect.
Had to kill the engine to make it stop. Killed one of my windmills. LOL Didn't like it anyway. Haven't had time to get under it yet. Anybody have a WAG of the problem?

I'm in the research phase of tractor buying and haven't determined the size I need is
Kubota L2501 or Kioti CK2610, etc. with HST and 3 ranges.
Never owned a tractor before, so here's my stupid question. Will I have the 3 ranges in reverse?
The reason I ask is I will be snow blowing and am considering a rear mounted 3pt unit.
Edit: I botched the title even, LOL

Cleaning up the sunflower patch
Over the years I have tried different methods of cleaning up my sunflower patch when they are done for. One year I cut them down with my chain saw, another year my weed wacker with a blade on. Then in the spring I would throw the stalk in the plow furrow as I plowed. This year I tried using my Horse. Now this is a Horse with a 4.5hp Clinton engine. Just goes to show you really don't need more hp.

Repower X485
Does anyone have any thoughts on repowering a X495 that has a bad engine. It put a rod through the block:tango_face_sad:. The tractor came with is a Yanmar 3TNE74. What other engines would work? Easy conversion prefered but any suggestions would be interesting too.
Mahindra Max 24 backhoe
I'm new to the forum and am looking for some help. I have a Mahindra Max 24 TLB. I broke one of the backhoe joysticks off. Does any one happen to know of a replacement option other than oem. I've tried to match the thread and make my own but it doesn't seem to be a standard thread or rod diameter although 3/8 rod is close.
