New (old) JD 430
Hey, new to the forum... just bought a John Deere 430 and I'm having some issues. I'm hoping to find some help here.
anti-blowout kit vs mulch kit for gx345 48c deck
I would some feedback on which you guys like better. The anti-blowout kit or the mulching kit? Currently use g6 gators on my 48c deck cut grass fine but leaves not so much they tend to blow out from under deck before getting hit with the blades.
Thanks so much

RimGuard Makes The Wheels Go 'Round (but not the tires).
Been talking to Tudor by PM because I thought this was a transaxle problem on my brand new LS . But my dealer finally found the problem and it's a new one to us.
Lost forward drive on anything but a table flat surface. 4WD would help in some cases, but in others I could see the front tires spinning while the rears did nothing. When the tech came out to check things, even the DiffLock didn't really help, so they took it back to the shop.
After most of a day, they finally determined that the RimGuard had seeped between the tire and the rim and was acting as a lubricant causing the rim to spin inside the tire. Transaxle was doing the job fine, but the tires weren't.
Once demounted, cleaned, bead sealant added and remounted, the problem went away for them.
I'll get it back later today and see what happens.

430 Charging and overheating issues
Hey all. I'm new to the forum (or any forum for that matter) so if I do something wrong, please let me know. I just bought a 1985? JD 430. It seems like a solid tractor other than needing tires and blades sharpened. It runs great and cuts great for having full blades. Before I bought it I mowed with it an the sellers house for about 5 minutes. It ran and mowed great, no obvious serious issues, so I bought it. When I got it home and started mowing the battery light came on when I engaged the PTO and stayed on until I disengaged it. Now the light comes on when I start it (usually, not always) and stays on. It still runs and mows with the light on. Ins this typically a battery or alternator issue?
Also, after about 30-40 minutes of mowing the temp light came on. I stopped and turned it off and it boiled over a little coolant. The coolant looked like mud so I drained it and flushed several times with the hose until it ran clear then filled it with coolant. Still overheated after about the same amount of time. Pulled the thermostat, it wasn't stuck, but I ran without it anyway to see if that changed anything... it didn't. While I had the thermostat hoisting off I started it briefly. It shot coolant about 3' in the air, so the water pump seems to be working. At this point I'm thinking the radiator must be clogged internally (I've cleaned the outside). Anyone have any experience with similar issues?

Pintle hook hitch on 54 inch blade?
Winter again, so I will be removing my front hitch receiver/bumper, per jpg below, and installing my 54" blade, also per the jpg below.
I would still like the ability to tow from the front with the blade and hydraulic angling kit attached.
As such, I am considering blowing 4 holes in the blade about where the decal between the springs is located, and attaching the pintle hook on the front side of the blade.
I realize that I will have to devise some sort of locking pin arrangement to insert into the holes near both springs to keep the blade from tipping when I pull.
Has anyone done this sort of thing?
Re the locking pins, rather than just some sort of large bolt, I would like some sort of design that is readily visible so I do not start snow plowing with the locks still in place.
The pintle hook will of course remain in place as it will be be affected by snow plowing.

Question about John Deere 112L, save me from making a mistake
Good evening everyone
So my 1980 John Deere 111 is starting to get a little tired in the trans axle (non hydro). I use it for cutting grass and blowing snow all year round. I have decided to buy another tractor to break up the duites. I placed a Craigslist ad looking for another one to dedicate to either or.
A guy responded stating he had a John Deere 112L that needs a motor. This works perfectly as I have a 17 horse Briggs laying around that I would swap in. The mower appears to be in mint shape. He never had it running but the previous owner said the motor went bad. He did some tests and it has some bad valves. I'm concerned about the hydro drive if it's any good. Do these go bad? Are there any signs I can look at?
He is asking $250 for it and I just want a simple tractor.
Any help is appreciated and opinions wanted.

Hello from Tennessee!
Over the last couple years I have had the opportunity to be introduced to the world of vintage lawn tractors. I have learned a lot in my research but am always reminded how much I don’t know.
