1978 316 drive shaft
Quick question. How does the drive shaft hook up to the transmission?
The coupler spins on the shaft and it looks like there could be a bolt that goes in or a pin that is driven in and maybe safety wired. Im not sure. Can someone confirm which it is or if it is something different?
Thank you.

Electrical problems suck
I have a Scotts by JD S2554 with electrical problems. I may have accidently short circuited the starter coil. However, the battery is fully charged. I get no hr display when I turn key to on and no power to headlights either. If I did short circuit the starter coil shouldn't I still get headlights????? I just purchased multimeter so I will know more shortly. Any electrical experts out there I could use any comments
or training you might want to provide and will be greatly appreciated

i1042 Drive belt replacement
Whew, what a chore to change the drive belt on these old i Series Cubs. My old 2008 i1042 came to a crawl then eventually stopped. The Hydros drive belt was pretty chewed up, surprised it lasted 10 years given that the machine lives outside in the Northeast... I put on one of the aftermarket Blue Kevlar belts. Hope it lasts!!
While I am a fan of the Cubs, there was a decided lack of engineering thought put into the transmission area on these models. Or they just dont want you to repair it! Bend brackets/retainers to remove a belt!? Eek. Anyways, glad I could salvage it, as I use the heck out of the amazing Johnny Bucket attached to it. Have a new tensioner spring on the way too.
For all you i-Owners out there, you CAN replace that dang belt. ;-) 🙏

Hi all. My first post. Acquired a 112 acre property a few months back that consists of ~25 acres of fields. Purchased a 1978 JD 2440 that came with a 6' brush hog, 2 bottom plow and scraper blade. Already have some small issues and hope I found the right place.

Mower Deck Belt
I need to replace the 52" mower deck belt used on my 812 tractor. I would like to find a commercial part number and resource for this item. Some of the online resources are confusing. I found a NAPA P/N A124 but do not know if this is correct.
Thanks,
Jack

Yamaha golf cart flooding
Greetings all. I recently purchased 1982 G1 that would run, but took forever to start and had no mid range. I replaced crank seals and now it runs like a new one, except has to have air filter box unhooked from carb or it pulls too much fuel to cylinder causing plug to get wet and then it dies. I have removed air filter from canister and looked for any obstructions but even with empty filter box attached, it will not run. If hose it removed from filter box, or carb itself, it runs fine. Previous owner replaced carb (aftermarket) I'm sure thinking that was cause of running issue. I have used ultrasonic cleaner on it and adjusted float both ways with no improvement... It's almost acts like it has air flow obstruction, but I can't figure where it might be. It has 90psi, which I'm reading if normal for an 82.... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
