'02 MK2 1.2 16v Clio - Ignition/Engine Stalling

Hi Guys, I'm here through pure desperation! My Mrs drives a 2002 1.2 16v Clio, pretty beat up having just reached 82k and she has now concluded that it's slowly starting to die! Despite in need of replacement the funds don't allow a new motor for another few months, so hopefully I can get some help in resolving the issue to keep it going a little longer

The engine will stall at low RPM, especially when crawling in traffic or going very slowly. At higher RPM's however it tends to be fine, in fact it's only ever cut out with me once while in the car but during the daily commute it tends to be 3-6 times a day for the other half. The electrical fault light is coming on when the engine is just about to cut out, but a sharp burst of rev's will often clear the fault and prevent the engine from stalling. Within the last few thousand miles the car has had a brand new coil pack and set of plugs which I fitted myself to cure a fairly severe misfire, but I have also just changed the coil pack again but to of no avail. I'm tempted to try another set of plugs, but I doubt that's the real culprit. My partner has also taken it to our local garage who is pretty good normally, but they said no fault was registered but they thought it could be a sensor which they attempted to clean (No idea which, it went in one ear and out of the other and I wasn't present when she collected!) but this didn't solve the issue. I even purchased an OBD tool myself and sure enough, no faults registered which really leaves me scratching my head.

One night the other week she did pull onto the drive with the electrical fault light on, I went to check it out and it appeared to be misfiring but not too severely.. Maybe one cylinder at a guess. Very partial amounts of throttle would stall the engine, in fact the first time I tried it the tach wasn't working either which I thought odd - So I immediately thought it could be the idle control valve. The engine fired back up after stalling however and the tach proceeded to work again as normal, idling at approximately 500RPM when warm. Once again partial throttle stalled the engine, but when re-started and reved harshly it cleared the fault and misfire and ran fine.

If anyone could point be in the right directions of things to check first I would very much appreciate it, it's a real pain in the butt without a fault code to check. With some of the clues above I am tempted to check try and check the ICV, but before wasting anymore time I figured it was worth asking someone cleverer than I with more experience with these cars

Cheers
