Faulty Immobiliser 1998 Clio 1.2l

Hello,

I'm looking for some immobiliser advice on my 1998 5dr 1.2 Renault Clio. The main issue we have at the moment is with starting the car. 6/10 times the car will start absolutely fine when you put the key in, however (and increasingly more) the car revs but doesn't start. It does this a number of times, with both keys, eventually it does catch and start, but sometimes it can be after 30 minutes waiting and trying. It recently happened and the battery drained. We pushed the car to a garage, and the mechanic told us there was an immobiliser fault and we would need to take the car to an auto-electrician to fix. We recharged the battery and then the car started to work again... I was just wondering if anyone has any solutions to this problem, or an estimate on how much this would take to fix? We only paid £350 for the car, and are a little reluctant to splash out on fixing the issue if it's worth more than the car itself. We really just need the car to last another six months before getting a new one, so even a short-term fix solution would be appreciated. It's getting to the point of having to get in the car 20 minutes earlier than we would usually have to set out just in case the car takes a while to start.

Thanks!
