How to fill automatic transmission

Hi
I woud like to change the automatic transmission fluid on my Renault Megane 2001 1.6L, cabroliet.
And need some advice please.
there seems to be a plug on the bottom of gearbox, 19mm, that goes into a larger 27mm bolt..
i removed the 19mm plug and 1.6L of fluid came out.
i heard these take 3.5L of fluid. Should I try to get the rest out, and how to do that. Also, how to fill the box with the correct amount of fluid.
