Kangoo 2002 1.9d 665. White smoke, running lumpy.

Kangoo 2002 1.9d 665. White smoke, running lumpy.

Hello Folks, I've had a look thru similar threads and some of my vans symptoms have come up, but there are a couple of differences overall. I am just wondering what to check next:

Began about 1 week ago, the van started but ran lumpy with plenty of white smoke coming from the exhaust; runs better when hot but still underpowered and with some smoke.

I wondered if it was restricted fuel flow and replaced the fuel filter - no change, have since had the EGR valve off and cleaned a light coating of soot off and replaced it - no change.

The white smoke is quite acrid and eye watering and I would guess it is due to unburned fuel so am looking towards overfueling issues maybe.

A strange thing is that on 2 occasions, I have turned the van off whilst hot, returned to the van 5 minutes later and started it, it runs as it should and has run for the duration of its journey normally - no smoke - normal power - no missing. Then come the next day, it is misbehaving again!!

last couple of days the coil light and electric fault light above it have come on occasionally, accompanied by even worse running, and no acceleration when throttle is pressed, then I turn off and restart and this usually returns the engine back to the lumpy, smoky scenario.

Please give me any thoughts they will me much appreciated! Cheers, Dave.
