Identity of wires in tailgate of megane II tourer (56)

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you might be able to identify the thick black wire in the photo which has been slashed. This seems to have been done whilst the re-wire (tailgate number plate light) has been 'fixed'.

I also notice that their is multiplex wire (twisted pair) in the image any idea what this connects to?
