The car in question is Laguna II Ph1, 2001, 1.8 16V 120PS.
I have noticed that the instant fuel consumption revolves around 26 - 29.9 l/100km, but mainly it is stuck at 29.9. So I bought a full tank of petrol and drove till it was empty, then refueled it again and by the distance traveled I calculated that it in fact used only 8 l/100km which seems reasonable.
Then I found out that during the dashboard test function, the "Fuel Use" category is showing various readings as shown in two videos posted below.
The car was idling during the readings
I've asked this question on a similar forum about reanult cars, but the suggestions were that I should change the dashboard to another one, I've yet to try it but my gut tells me that this is not the case here.
Does any of you know how the on-board computer calculates the fuel usage?
I know that it needs the injectors opening times for this, but what another signal could affect the reading?
