2001 Clio central locking button in the car not working

I assume that central locking is working otherwise, ie. on key fob?

I'd assume a problem with the button, could be just clogged with gunge if not used regularly.

Where I would start.

See if you can get the button out or underneath the housing so you can try a shorting the wiring/testing the switch.

My hope would be no more then 4, two for illumination and two for the switch in the button.
But with Renault that is anyone's guess.
