There is another way, bear with me.
The reason it auto turns off, is because modern cars are much more reliant on a good, well charged battery.
As a seasoned caravanner & motorcycle camper, I have had this issue too. Not too expensive BTW.
Take a 33aH Golf cart (dryfit) battery. and http://ift.tt/1O6bLe1
Connect the relay to a fag lighter plug & the battery. Fit a fag lighter socket to the battery, yer done.
Voila, permanent power in the boot & even if the kids flatten it, the car will start. One can unplug it & use it in the Tent, just plug it in again to charge it on the move. also makes a handy jump battery too.
Bonus, NO running wires through the car & No modifications to reduce the cars value.
