clio 1.5 dci not starting after aux belt change.
I was on the motorway and my aux belt snapped. I drove on to the next service station, stopped and got towed home.
I changed the aux belt. It started raining. I finished the job in the rain (with the bonnet up)
Afterwards the car started fine. It ran for a minute then started making a loud running noise then it stopped.
It will now not start. It chugs just once then nothing. Also, the electrics inside the car are making a strange noise. They click and tick way louder than they used to.
After looking through the forums here I have: cleaned the battery terminals. taken out all the fuses and relays in engine box, cleaned them and put them back in. Jump started it. had a small glimpse under the timing belt cover (belt is still there)
At a loss now. I'm thinking it could be one of a few things:
Electrical issue from the rain (but don't know what to look for next)
Part of the old aux belt stuck in the timing belt jamming it up (but it did drive fine after it snapped)
Starter motor issue (but it did start and run for a min, and this doesn't explain the loud running noise when i started it after belt change)
Just wondering if anyone had any experience of this / any other ideas?
Thank you all.
