Renault Scenic 1.6 - Idle Air Control Valve

Hi
New to the forum!

It all began while taking a 3mile trip, the car would suddenly rev very high - as if the throttle was stuck.
After some lengthy investigation, couldn't find anything untoward.
The ran car fine, for at least another 2 weeks.

Then - upon starting up one morning (from cold), the engine was Idling erractcally, and then, the revs sat high (about 2500RPM).

So- I removed the throttle body (which needed a clean), checked air filters (all new), checked hoses/and for leaks (all ok), replaced throttle body seals with new ones, replaced manifold seals with new ones, replaced Coils and Plugs with correct ones. (Phew!)

Then next, I removed the Idle Air Control Valve and cleaned that with Carb Cleaner.

Upon firing back up, the car revs at 3000+ RPM on idle.
So I assume the Idle Air Valve is faulty/sticking.

I have no DTC codes showing, and the Engine Light isn't lit.

I have checked all of the wiring & connectors for correct voltage, and for any damage (none).
I have tested the Idle Air Valve - that (seems) to be OK, (resistance across 2 coils), and it moves.

I have (on order) a replacement valve.

Aparently, there is a correct mothod for installing the IAV and setting it up (training the ECU).

Question 1)
Do you fit the replacement IAV 'as supplied'?
As these are usualy supplied with the Pintle pushed "in" - does it need to be pulled out to the closed position first? (I was told my a not very reliable source that you need to do this....)

Question 2)
I gather you need to switch the ignition on and off 3 times, to reset the new valve? Is this the correct reset procedure?

Question 3)
I read somewhere, that the reset procedure involved slowly increasing the throttle pedal once the ignition is switched on.....

Has anyone here experienced this 'setting up' procedure.

Any help greatly recieved. Thanks in advance.
