So the car has covered ~9,000 miles and ~21 months since its last oil change? In my opinion, the service is well overdue. Renault would disagree with me, but they don't care about the car after it's out of warranty, just like other manufacturers. You will care though, as will the next owner!

12 months or 10,000 miles (whichever comes first) would be a commonly recommended maximum interval, despite your handbook saying otherwise.

I, like may others, adhere to 6 months or 6,000 miles. I do this with my eyes wide open and having weighed up the pros and cons. Everyone is different. Oil is cheap, engines are not.
