Vivaro 1900 (Renault Trafic)

My old man's vivaro has a very strange problem and no mechanics we know have managed to solve it.

The throttle is electronically controlled. When the van is started from cold, the accel. pedal works. Drive it around totally fine until the van is up to temp. Turn van off & restart = pedal does nothing. No matter how many times you turn off and on again or pump the pedal/slip the clutch to make it kick in, nothing works.

The length of time it takes to be able to rev the engine is completely random.

The only way to get the accelerator working before it sorts itself out is to get the van on a slope and lift the clutch in 1st or 2nd gear as you're rolling down it with the engine running. Half way down it will come to life and the accelerator will work.

If you leave the engine to cool down, all is well again!

The accelerator pedal itself or whatever gubbins are attached to it have been replaced (in the footwell). No change.

Would genuinely appreciate any advice or suggestions on this matter as the van is almost unusable. My dad has been stuck in carparks for two hours at a time waiting for the engine to cool down enough!

Many thanks
Michael
