Hi guys, had this problem since the car was bought around 10 years ago, car is a 1996 1.8 Laguna RT, multi-point injection. When I bought the car, the rev counter would sometimes work for a few seconds, then the needle would drop to 0 again, was like that for a few years, then got to the stage of never working at all. Car has been off the road for a couple of years now, but want to get it back on the road again as I have a soft spot for the Mk 1 Lags and love this old car, but the rev counter not working is so annoying.
Only thing I could find out about the rev counter is that the wiring to it is green/black (from back of cluster to ecu), and the signal to ecu is either from crank sensor or cam sensor, also that I would need to use a multi-meter to check the green/black wire is sending a signal to the rev counter from the ecu.
Can anyone enlighten me as to whether this information is correct or incorrect, and also what setting and value I should be using and seeing on the meter when checking the wiring. Many thanks if anyone can help me out, I will post pics if I get a fix to help others with the problem.
