Trying to remove the exhaust manifold but to do this I first need to remove the top heat shield having released the 4 fixings it appears that the Lambda sensor is screwed in over the top of the heat shield and is stuck solid, I tried using a Lambda socket but the cable cut out just springs and socket slips, so every day for a week I gave it some WD40 but no joy.
So today I got hold of a proper deep 22mm socket, I cut the wires off then put a length of pipe over sensor gave it a wiggle and snapped the top off, now my new socket fits good.
Have removed the throttle body to try and get an extension on so that my wrench is above the cylinder head but I still need to use a knuckle joint which is not ideal, so on with a 3 foot extension to my wrench and 19 stone behind it the thing is well and truly stuck. The only thing I can think of doing is to mash up the heat shield so I can get to the manifold stud nuts then once out of the car either gets some heat on it or drill the sensor out unless someone has a cunning plan?
If I mash up the heat shield what's the chance of getting a replacement, seen nothing on ebay.
