98 Megane electronic fault

Hey guys, I posted on here about 2 months ago with my 98 1.4 petrol Megane central locking system not working. I thought I had the problem fixed by taking apart the main fuse box in the battery compartment and cleaning the bus and fuses with circuit cleaner. It worked again until it rained. Made me think it wasn't the fuse box. Looking further, I realised that where the loom went through the firewall was completely rusted so obviously let water in when there was a storm and a blocked drain, caused the flooding in the drivers foot-well. Having sealed that with silicone I'm still having a the problem that sometimes it doesn't work.

When it occurs, the central locking, both from the key and console don't work, the indicators, hazards and wipers don't work, the drivers window doesn't work and the interior light and rear demister switches don't work (if either is on, it stays on, if either is off, it stays off) and the warning light on the dash informing me the system is not operating correctly flashes.

Occasionally, disconnecting the battery for a few seconds gets it working again, but sometimes I've to completely dismantle the fuse box. It can sometimes even happen when the car is running, the wipers and indicators just stop and the warning light comes on, but the car runs fine other than that.

The thing is there is no consistency as to when it will and won't work.

My guess is that when it flooded, the water corroded the wiring and if I find the right wire(s) and clean/connect it better it should sort my problem out??

Has anyone encountered a problem like this or know whether it is as simple to fix as I hope and if so where do I go and what do I do??
