My fan was only working on number 4 (max) so after looking around on here I decided I needed to replace the resister. This I did (just the resistor end with the two -live and neutral- wires).
However, on fitting and turning the fan on it works on all four settings but unless it is on 4 it gets incredibly hot (hot enough to melt through other wires etc.).
Any advice on the next steps? Many thanks.
