1.5 dCi Fuel Pump Replacement and Questions

The fuel pump on my Micra 1.5 dCi has broken up, pouring the fuel out of the filter into a magnetic shows a lot of particles

We're thinking of getting a new pump, injectors and fuel system clean but I have a quick question

The hand primer bulb doesn't get firm, no matter how long we try and prime it. Would that be because of the dead pump or an unrelated issue? I've not seen anyone else mention it before
