is he a dodgy mechanic??

Hi guys im new, 4 weeks ago i bought a 2010 renault megane 1.6 vvt dynamique love the look and interior it had 78k miles on and at the time i thought a bargin at 2000 pound since ive seen the cv joints have gone the AC pump had gone i got a second hand AC pump and fitted it about one week later i was getting like a chainy grinding scary noise when pressing start but only done it now and then anyway as its on 78k miles and cambelt was due at 72k the mechanic assured me its not the dephaser pulley making that start up noise its the starter motor
Anyway today he did the timing belt and water pump change had pro tools good garage etc after he left it to run outside so i jumped in to rev it and it felt like the first few millmeters when pushing on throttle there was no oompth like before not hard compression the car idles fine drives well but when i rev the accelerator i get a big gasp air intake ""wasent like that before"" mecahanic said thats what renault sound like i said it was silent and had oompth now pedal can go to floor easy but its the air intake sound comming from the air filter pipe bit to the manifold we changed plugs n oil and filter its like a gasp gasp gasp gasp gasp when rev ANY IDEAS PKEASE IM SCARED LOL AS FIRST NEWISH CAR
Mecanic told me the car is french and should this way i said BS and havent paid him yet

Renault Laguna 1.8 RN - 1998 - timing belt help

Hi all.

Can anyone help me out here. I've got a friend who's got a Laguna 1.8 RN - probably the 8v one. The timing belt snapped and she has asked me to fix it for her.

Simple question....am I wasting my time?? Is it possible the engine is now shot??

If not can some one please tell me what I need to change the belt ?? Any specific tools etc???

Any info advice is greatly appreciated. Never worked on a Laguna before.

Been web hunting for any tech pdfs etc but the car is 18years old so not much online.

Cheers

Steve

Re: Audi and white smoke

What model Audi, Corky, also year engine size and engine code,, Engine code is on a sticker on the timing belt case,, if cannot find the engine code there, look under the spare wheel in the boot
