Failing dashboard

Hi guys.
This problem belong to a Nissan Primastar. Same car as a Renault Traffic, just a different brand
I just noticed a new problem with my car.
The display at my dashboard wont show any information. The display is somewhat uplit, but no info is shown.
I disassemble the dashboard and noticed that if i roughly twist the cables, the text appears, but sometimes it appears upside down.
Is it the cables or the dash it self?
If i buy a new/pree used dash, how does the milage work? Is it...
