Any Swedo boffins on here willing to help or offer opinion with window problem?

Working electric windows on vehicle - but when opening a door with a closed window, the window is supposed to drop an inch or so and stay that way to enable proper auto closing and sealing of window rubber only once door is closed again.................... this is what I am told - unable to find feature described in owners manual

Isn't happening on a vehicle I have here and I'm stumped...
