Clio MkII Airbag Sensor Problem

Apologies, I know this has been discussed before but I can't seem to locate the correct thread.
I've a 2004 MkII Clio and the airbag warning light has came on.
A mate said that this is common problem from sensors under seat, and that if the disconnecting and cleaning etc, doesn't resolve, then best option is to hard wire the connection by soldering or spading the wires from seat to car.
Did that - still hasn't worked.

Problem is intermittent and does go off after driving for a while but comes on again quite, every time after starting up.

Any known fixes?

Also, is there a danger the airbags could activate themselves during driving if the connections come loose?
