Megane diesel chugging in 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear

My diesel Megane might have gotten dirty fuel as it started chugging in 2nd gear but almost all of that fuel is gone now and it still chugs when you change into 2nd.At high speeds in 3rd 4th and 5th its fine.I tried additives and changing fuel filter but no change.Whats wrong and could I risk a long journey in this state?
