I have a 2006 2.2 DCi automatic. I'm the second owner, it's got a full Renault service history and has done 104k miles.
Over the last few months I've noticed that when I'm at low revs, and not under power (so cruising at low speed or when I lift my foot up and the revs drop back down), the engine noise becomes an obvious whirring knock. This disappears when power is reapplied. Otherwise, it seems to be running okay in all respects.
My garage, when I explained the above, said it could be the clutch and flywheel on their way out, but I have no other noise, for instance a clunk when stopping, to support that idea.
As I have to drive to south west France and back in a couple of weeks I'm keen to ensure that this isn't something that will bite me on the way!
So, if anyone has any advice, I'd be most grateful to hear it.
Thanks and all the best
