Clutch failed, pedal straight to floor just as girlfriend (her car) was setting off from our home in France to take the car back where it lives in England. Very convenient.
Suspect slave cylinder, so I started dismantling. Not an easy job on these, as you'll know - and the car's not worth much apart from huge sentimental value, but we decided it was too good in other ways to scrap.
