Clio Radio problem

I bought a 2000 Clio for my grandaughter 3 weeks ago and the radio does not work, problems as follows:
No radio display but clock displays OK
When radio is on and ignition is turned on, the radio plays but keeps bleeping, and with no display and then after about 2 minutes it stops.
Any thoughts???
