Modus 1.6 Dynamique Auto cannot move in D gear

I wonder if anybody experienced this symptom:
My car is Modus 1.6 Dynamique Automatic transmission, year 2005, 33,000 mileage. When I shift it to D gear, the car does not go, I can hear some sort of metallic grinding noise, similar to a bicycle chain slipping off the gears .
And the engine stalls even in N gear.
