Megane 56 Plate key card

Hi

My key card has stopped opening and locking the doors on my 56 plate Megane . It starts the car fine as usual and I do not have any messages on the dash. This happened suddenly yesterday it used to open and lock from a big distance but now there is nothing.

Is this likely to be the battery or something more sinister?

Any help will be appreciated.
