Laguna 3 'check ignition system' STOP.

Hi all,

I have the above message appearing as a warning every now and then for the last month. After which the engine loses power as if I seem to have hit the rev limiter. Last night however, on the way back from a Christmas meal out the same message appeared but this time along with the STOP light and cut the engine out altogether. I tried pressing the button a number of times. I ended up opening the door to turn off the ignition and as soon as I tried again it started.

I have read some horror stories about infection system computers etc costing over a grand, but haven't really heard of anyone solving it through a filter change.

Could anyone shine anymore light on this issue?
