Belt tensioner 2.2 Espace diesel 2005

Hi, I'm just changing the belt tensioner on my Espace, I've got the old one off easy enough and have bolted the new one in and put the belt on, but the new unit has a pin in it to keep the spring in the tensioner closed.

With everything in place it's almost impossible to get a hand/pliers etc down onto the pin to pull it out, and it's quite firmly in there.

I've tried turning the adjustment bolt on the tensioner to take the pressure off the pin but still it's not enough to get it out.

I read about someone with a clio that had taken off the headlight to do it but not sure that'd work on the espace as the fuel filter is in the way too

I had though about removing it before bolting it to the car but had read told not to on several other sites as the spring is quite strong so reseting it in the car afterwards is neigh on impossible.

Anyone have any ideas/tricks on how to get the pin out?

Thanks

Lewis
