megane 2 convertible roof issues.
i bought another megane convertible as a project with faulty roof issues so once again thought i would post my findings.
this car would fold down roof fine it and would bleep when fully locked down as it should, no issue there, trouble came with putting roof back up and locking it, it would fold up and would lock front catches and boot lid would go down fine but would not bleep to tell you it was locked and kept showing warning on dash to consult the hand book... so after removing the back seats and all plastics on roof to find all sensors and check they were working with a multi-meter on ohms resistance,, to do this i removed sensor wired it to meter and moved the movable part of sensors. there are also sensors on the hydrolic rams behind the rear trim ie speakers are in this piece needs removing to gain access.. all where working as should.. so then i removed all trim in the boot area to reveal the pump and roof ecu on the nearside. once again all this looked perfect no water ingress or corrosion wd 40 the connectors still no joy..
i then locked car up on remote and try.d to lift the nearside boot lid edge closest to the front of car and it was tight ie locked down.. try'd same on the off side same way found the boot lid will come up a little.. this was the issue ie boot lid not locking down properly. further inspection found the inner catch on boot lid was knackered.. stripped it cleaned it greased it fix problem,, no cost. also the boot would not open with this fault.
