ecu compatability

hi all ,currently having problems with the fuel injectors failing to operate,it is a 1.4 petrol 2001 kangoo,had the car on a diagnostic machine and its coming up with no problems .when petrol is poured directly into the carb it fires up no problem.mechanic tells me it could be a faulty ecu ?.the ecu is a siemens 8200109024 ,i was wondering if it had to be the exact same for a replacement ,although the kangoo is quite old it is in pretty good condition and is adapted to accomadate my wifes wheelchair,if anyone could give me some advice on the best place to source an ecu i would be most gratefull
