The electronic brake should engage automatically when you stop the engine and release automatically when you pull away.
Auto release works exactly the same whether brake was applied automatically or manually.

It releases when clutch is released and throttle pressed.
Exact point of release depends on how much throttle is needed, hill starts will release later then on the flat.
