Can Condensation cause a Xenon Bulb to Fail

Yesterday morning I had Halfords change both my side lights on a 2003 Laguna. Using the vehicle only in day light hours since then I never got to check the full beam. This evening when leaving work I put on my headlights to discover that the O/S Xenon bulbs was out. I notice a lot of condensation in the headlight. So on my way home I popped back into Halfords. When the chap there inspected the Headlight the cap fell off as he touched it. He went on to say the condensation was just one of those things that happens, although the other side had no condensation. I have since had a Breakdown Tech out who said this is possible and is too coincidental for it not to be.

My Question is can condensation from a wrongly fitted headlight cap cause a Xenon bulb to fail.
