Just purchased a 2001 1149cc Renault Clio Grande very cheaply as a run-around while my big car is being fixed.
It drove very well for 2 days, then on the third day decided not to start - when turning the key the engine turned but the immobilizer light flashed rapidly and there was no spark.
Came back to the car 30 minutes later and it started up in the normal way.
Flicking through the service history for the car it seems like the AA were called out only 2 weeks ago for a non-starting problem and there appears to be a brand new battery in the car, so I wonder if the problem was misdiagnosed. The battery is fine.
The car only has one key, it doesn't work the central locking (I haven't tried to change the battery) but it appears it hasn't for some time, as the receipt from the car's purchase 2 years ago states that the central locking remote button doesn't work.
Now I don't mind having to go through procedures to start the car, but I do need to know that I can start it somehow... what should my plan of action be?
